چکیده

disease of unknown cause that can involve various organs. A diagnosis is usually made when clinical and radiological manifestations are supported by histological evidence of the presence of noncaseating granulomas in one or more tissues (1, 2). Sarcoidosis is well characterized by the presence of hilar lymphadenopathy and pulmonary infiltrates. Extrathoracic organs are also involved, such as the skin, eye, heart, liver, spleen, scrotum, central nervous system, joints, muscles and bone (1-5). Rarely, subcutaneous tissue (2, 3, 5-9) or the fascia (8) is involved. We experienced a case of subcutaneous sarcoidosis that was manifested as a palpable mass that breached the adjacent fascia. The mass was seen with homogeneous and slightly higher signal than the muscle on a T2-weighted image, and the lesion mimicked a soft tissue tumor. We report here the MR imaging findings of a case of a nodular type of subcutaneous sarcoidosis that could not be differentiated from a sarcoma or a malignancy.

Sarcoidal Type Foreign Body Reaction: A Case Report

Sarcoidosis and foreign body reactions are common differential diagnoses of skin granuloma formation. We report a 40 year –old man with sarcoid type granulomas containing polarized foreign materials, and also bilateral hilar adenopathy. It appears that detection of foreign bodies in histopatologic studies of granulomas does not necessarily exclude the possibility of sarcoidosis.

Adalimumab Induced Subcutaneous Nodular Sarcoidosis; A Rare Side Effect of Tumor Necrosis Factor-α Inhibitor.

Adalimumab and other tumor necrosis factor-α inhibitors have been shown in the recent years to successfully treat sarcoidosis refractory to systemic corticosteroids and other agents.  However, there have been an increasing number of cases of sarcoidosis paradoxically induced by these agents.  It is hypothesized that this is due to the disruption of the fine balance of cytokines involved in gran...

Pleural sarcoidosis diagnosed on the basis of an increased CD4/CD8 lymphocyte ratio in pleural effusion fluid: a case report

INTRODUCTION Pleural effusion induced by sarcoidosis is rare, and pleural sarcoidosis is often diagnosed by thoracoscopic surgery. The diagnosis of pleural sarcoidosis using thoracentesis may be less invasive when sarcoidosis is already diagnosed histologically in more than one organ specimen. Here we report the case of a 64-year-old woman with pleural sarcoidosis diagnosed on the basis of an i...
